Second Australian man has died on a surf trip in the Mentawais.According to local police, Adam Dube’s body was found on Wednesday morning after he and nine others went for a midnight swim off their chartered boat.
“After an hour they returned to the boat, but only nine showed up. Dube was not there,” Chief Sasongko, the Mentawai Police Chief told ABC. When the others realized Dube hadn’t returned, they spent the night searching for him, but weren’t able to locate him until the sun rose.
Just a few days prior, 54-year-old Ronald Schneider hit his head on the reef off Sipora Island. After his friends returned to the boat and he didn’t, they searched for him, only to find he had died in the surf.
Our sincerest condolences to family and friends of both men.
